Having completed other fun sunday projects like making backgrounds transparent on the site, sorting out margin issues, making a spotify playlist for Nick Gould, my next piddling for the day will very likely be making multisamples from this little guy. Wheehee.

I also did – however- acquire pixelwave and a fun string synth called YUMI:synth- despite the fact that I incorrectly listed this guy as pixelwave…. The interfaces are really similar tho- to my credit.

Well… I’ll have to go find some kind of awesome audio nugget to add on here today… or something. Meanwhile- I did get an about page and something up for visual design- which is basically just my old flyers I had around. In the next few weeks I hope to post some of my vids for the of Montreal projections we used in the last tours as well as some character designs I have been fooling with- some for purpose some not so much.

At any rate- I think this site is actually becoming what I set out to make of it- it’s playful, seems me-ish and isn’t plagued by me designing it in fear of it not being modern enough. Web design has always been tricky- when actively working in the field, one can’t help but feel like their own site design should just OOZE the very modernest of modern-ness. I think things have changed a bit recently- as people watched their expensive next trend sites become unusable and hopelessly out of date while someone else’s blog became grand central station. I dunno. I think it is important that it be pretty- but if I see one more stark white thing with text sparingly littered in unnavigable random sections I am gonna puke. This design? This is just another refit of my own customizations to the wordpress twentyten template.

I guess, with web as much as any other discipline- when communicating about yourself you just have to let go of trends and attempt honest communication. I feel kind of like that’s what I have going here- so, for a brief moment here- I am just gonna be a little proud…

Ok, that’s enough of that- back to my artistic miseries…

Basically, GoDaddy wanted money for it- which made me think about how much I’m not using it. I don’t really spend so much time being a web designer anymore and it seems kind of pointless to constantly chase down links and make sure my page isn’t dead ending people who (for some reason) want to look at my old work. I have been shifting my focus back to music more and more in the past few years and definitely want to focus on artier things than I had gotten up to prior to my decision to run away with the circus and hope for the best.

So my thoughts have lead me to simply take down my print section and stop archiving the past. From now on the site will be a place for snippets of work done on upcoming tunes, experiments in the lab, new visual art as I complete it. The portfolio of one’s accomplishments will always need updating- but this will be updated with the complete and the incomplete- and hopefully serve the same purpose.

Having built the site in blog format- perhaps I will also use it as a forum for talking about things- concepts, funny things, noises that are decidedly “fart-ish”= whatever. Maybe it is my desire to stop putting time into communicating through facebook and shift the focus back to making something comprehensive- a job finder, a work history- whatever it is these sites are supposed to be. To not feel compelled to update the site the second a potential employer requests a CV. I don’t know- but rather than framing out some architecture I have to fill- I will just start posting- let the tags fall where they may. At the end of the day- it’s my site- and I’m tired of static portfolios.
